Petition sponsors against Dream Act have until Tuesday to submit signatures

The Dream Act was passed in the last session by Maryland legislators and signed in a very public media event by Governor O’Malley. It grants tax funded tuition to Maryland colleges to illegal immigrants through the in-state tuition program.


Opponents are exercising their only recourse, a petition to referendum, meaning they are gathering petition signatures in order to have the bill placed on the ballot in 2012 so the voters can decide. It is their hope that the citizens of Maryland will vote to overturn the law.
