Palin's Lump of Coale

One interesting and important fact not mentioned so far about Sarah Palin’s endorsement of Brian Murphy: Top Palin advisor John Coale and his strong ties to Martin O’Malley and the Maryland Democratic Party.

Coale, is the husband of Fox New’s host Greta Van Susteren, a trial lawyer, who struck it rich on the 1997 settlement with Big Tobacco, and an extremely generous Democratic donor.

Coale loaned O’Malley’s campaign $500,000 in the waning days of the 2006 gubernatorial campaign, a debt, which it has yet to repay.

Between federal and state accounts Coale has given the Maryland Democratic Party over $60,000.

So given Coale’s ties and contributions to the Maryland Democratic machine is it any surprise that out of the blue Sarah Palin endorses the primary opponent of Bob Ehrlich, the one man who can end the Democrats stranglehold over the state.

Correction: O'Malley did repay the loan in 2007.

I honestly think Palin makes these decisions based on how she thinks people will perceive what they mean about her, not because she cares about the candidates involved. Palin is making an anti-establishment statement with this pick and it wont mater that Ehrlich will handily beat her candidate, it makes her seem more iconoclast.

I would hope that the Republican Party would not split.I would not like to see 4 more years of Martin O'Malley in Maryland. He has done enough damage to the state of Maryland with the tax increase.I hope Sarah will endorse Bob Ehrlich in the General Election this Fall.

It's About Jobs, Taxes ... Not Bigwigs

Yes, out-of-state bigwig endorsements don't make much difference or really count for anything once the voter gets in that booth on November 2.

What it really boils down to is what the candidate running for office believes in. How that candidate says he or she will approach the tough issues facing Maryland.

What this shows is the Ehrlich's true independence has earned him the trust of voters from all parties.

Bob Ehrlich isn't the kind of politician who is bound at the hip to ideology. His record speaks for itself. That's obvious in how people have responded to his candidacy to lead Maryland.

He's the guy who has consistently fought to get Maryland moving forward again with those things that matter to voters like you and me -- and that's jobs in Maryland, lower taxes in Maryland, and less spending in Maryland.

It's a tough time for thousands and thousands of Marylanders who can't find work. That has to change.

Ehrlich has a record. He's a known. We trust that with him comes a better and brighter future for all Marylanders.

After all, for us voters and Maryland taxpayers, that's what matters the most.
