Pat McDonough for Governor?

Del. Pat McDonough announced on his radio show yesterday that he was interested in running for governor.  However, McDonough also stated that he would exit the race if former Maryland Gov. Bob Ehrlich entered the race.

I don’t have a dog in this hunt, but Pat McDonough doesn’t appear to be cut from executive timber.  First he wanted to be Baltimore County Executive.  Now he’s talking about running for Governor; but only if Ehrlich doesn’t get in the race.

Are you really going to vote for someone who can’t make up their mind what they want to do?  How about someone who readily admits that he’s not the best man for the job?

One more example of a Maryland Republican shooting themselves, and our party, in the foot.

I think you are being a bit to critical, several other people are waiting to see what Ehrlich is going to do.I think its rather prudent.

I agree that the "I'm not the best man for the job" approach is the best approach. I also agree that potential candidates for Governor should not wait around on Ehrlic, nor make some sort of pact that they will withdraw if he announces - who donned Ehrlic the only GOP Governor potentate? Have we forgotten that he raised our taxes? He raised budgeted funding to Planned Parenthood (doesn't the Republican platform oppose abortion?).

We don't need a repeat of 2006 in 2010. We need a GOP Gubernatorial candidat who stands for something (preferably something conservative).

I'm having diffulty agreeing with this blog - but it appears we have found common ground on this point.
