Budget Cuts Threaten Police, Fire Crews; Prince George's Co. Could Cut 320 Jobs.

UPPER MARLBORO, Md. - The financial crisis could hit emergency services in Prince George's County hard.
FOX 5 has learned Prince George's County is considering cutting 320 jobs. However, a whopping 71 percent of the latest cuts come from public safety.
It's not final yet, but with only 10 days to go before a final budget is submitted by county executive Jack Johnson, the layoffs are looking more likely.

FOX 5 obtained a list from the budget office, and it shows a worst-case scenario . Cuts will come from the jail and fire department, but the police department is at the top of the hit list.

A closer look shows that of the 320 jobs that could be cut, 122 of them are police officers who would be pink slipped, along with 48 firefighters and 20 deputies from the sheriff's department. An additional 37 people from the Department of Corrections would also lose their jobs.
No other county department has more than 15 jobs on the line.

Hey, cutting vital services is SOP for any politician who wants to raise taxes. Usual few, if any, in the bureaucracy get cut.
And he wants to bring that with him to the State just like the boy gov brought Baltimore City successes with his. This state is screwed!
I'll suggest something that would really save money in the prisons = no toilet paper at all. Install bathroom bidet sprayers in all the toilets and all they'll need is a towel to dry off. It's cleaner, cheaper (yes for those who just have to object to everything water is cheaper than toilet paper!), it's better for the environment and it has health benefits like lessening hemorrhoids which would save even more money. After they try it, like most people, they will like it. As Dr. Oz said on Oprah: "if you had pee or poop on your hand, you wouldn't wipe it off with paper, would you? You'd wash it off" This is a logical, doable and simple way to save allot of money and actually improve the prisoners living standards. But of course like all new ideas people will find countless silly and inane objections, that is the way of things.
