Pardon my "French", but...
... we are so "**cked"!!

It seems Newsweek likes the idea. If the USof A isn't already dead, you have to at least recognize it as in severe distress. The idea isn't original, here's a warning from across the pond last year. Let's hope the hoards of angry Americans (taxpayers) can stop this gravy-train to oblivion.

It is about time this government spent time on its own people and infrastrure. Don't you agree ?
Actually, "Bruno"
That money killed a boatload of people who wanted to see you and your family dead. Now, as you say, you don't care about that. Fortunately for you and the rest of us, we had a president who did care.
If the government is going to spend a Trillion dollars of my tax money I'd prefer that it be done over a long period of time and that it not fund frisbee tournaments or condom giveaways.
My apologies for the unfortunate accident that left you in a coma since early childhood and congratulations on your recovery.
Just to bring you up to date, the overwhelming majority of the federal budget, and indeed state budgets, are devoted to aiding Americans directly or indirectly.
The superhighway system, airports, seaports are all funded by taxes. Social Security, WIC, low income housing: ditto.
Even the defense establishment you guys don't like until something really bad happens employs hundreds of thousands of Americans.
The question is whether we need the people who oversaw Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac involved in the spending more than they are now.
We are Americans, not Iraqi. We need spend our money in THIS country. Where is the pride, the dignity, the respect for each and every born human ?
It is in helping ourselves, as Jesus would do.
Give them fish now, and then teach them to fish.
Nice to see nice old fashioned selfishness raise its head.
If you're a fan of genocide, regional wars, and terrorism then you've laid out a very nice formula to ensure that's what you get.
The money spent on the Iraq war has overwhelmingly been spent in this country. Military salaries to Americans (btw, the stimulus bill will pay to illegal aliens so I'm not sure how you'd think that helps Americans particularly). Military equipment must, by law, be purchased from US companies. The companies supplying logistical support in Iraq are also Americans.
Americans know how to fish. This analogy is banal at its best, when used in conjunction with the US it is patently absurd.
Helping other people rise out of a third world dystopia is not only the morally right thing to do but it creates another entrant into the international system that has kept major nations from killing each other for 50 years.
You guys also have a real funny idea about the Gospel. Maybe if you read the actual documents from time to time instead of relying on what you can glom from the bumpersticker on a Prius you wouldn't beclown yourself.
How can you speak of morality with the same mouth you condemn less advantaged America? We need to take care of our own. your hypocrisy and bs is further highlighted when you mention genocide--what about all the atrocities in africa?
We will help our less fortunate, we did spend and continue to spend money in Iraq that should be used in America. And the money used in the military ( a social program) will be channeled to ALL americans.
America will regain its place as the great country is used to be.
"We need to take care of our own."
Leftist code for: we need to expand the permanent underclass that increases our power and further enslaves the American people.
All emotions, no substance. Bush's waste was bad, so we need to waste even more to show how caring we are!
Pshaw.
Reading comprehension is your friend. I apologize for using the big words and commas and stuff when you're stuck with the whole N-V-N limitation.
I don't condemn less advantaged Americans. In fact, being raised in Appalachia I probably have a lot more insight into this than you'll ever get in Mom's basement. I champion their ability to participate in our society on an equal basis. The value of the individual is one of the tenets of conservatism. Unlike the left, we don't treat the poor as wards as the state and as a petri dish for half-baked social experiments.
The military isn't a social program, as Robert McNamara proved with Project 100,000. It is a warfighting instrument.
America will not be great again if we allow the government to gain control of large sections of our economy and reduce us to something akin to the old Warsaw Pact countries.
