Frederick County Public Schools Salary Data

The latest information on public school system salaries is out for the Frederick County Public Schoosl.

No doubt the teacher's union will say that they will need more pay, which in this time of economic difficulty shouldn't happen, but probably will. So to the Frederick County Board of Education and the Frederick County Commissioners, I urge you to consider this little nugget of data:

Of 2,890 teacher (teacher only) salaries listed: 24 teachers earn more than $100,000. That is teachers, it doesn't count principals, or central office staff or the $210,000 salary of the superintendent.

Nor does it count the very generous benefit package.

More analysis later

I don't think that is quite enough information.

It would be more beneficial, to us I think, if what was also included in these tables were length of service in that position for each person, as well as when they first entered into the profession.

Of course, the data is limited. However, you can also look at the 2008 salary data, which does have years in service, salary, and even the school/facility where the person works.

I don't know if the FNP hasn't gotten to getting that data entered or if FCPS doesn't supply it any more (which would make such an analysis easier).

However, my point about salary and the benefit package still stands. In a time when lots of peole worry about losing their job (my wife), I don't want to hear from the Frederick Count Teachers Association that they aren't being paid enough.

Maybe the FNP will get more data into their tables soon. It would be very useful to look at things like teacher turnover, school by school budgets and the like by comparing 2008 data and 2009 data. (downloadable files would also be good as well).
