Olbermann Owned

As hard as I try, I just can't seem to fulfill my goal of making Worst Person in the World. Oh well.

Anyway, for those of you who truly loathe Keith Olbermann as much as I do, you will find this Newsbusters story on Greg Gutfield owning Keith Olbermann a nice early Christmas present.

Mark,

That was outstanding -- I don't even watch the studio portions of Sunday Night Football (that is how much I hate Olbermann).

I am not a huge fan of RedEye, mostly because the style of humor doesn't appeal to me. But it would be great to see that show top Olberman's Festival of Liberal Fascism and Stupidity just once.

OK, let me be the lone dissenter. If I had a choice between Bill O'Reilly and FOX News or Keith Olbermann and MSNBC, I will take the latter anyday.

Bill O'Reilly is a opportunistic blow hard who's ego has been in overdrive for four years. How anyone can support a two-faced hack like that is beyond me. In addition to that, there is no real journalistic value to FOX News. It's a dash of shock video and tabloid that I have grown to despise. Yes, Olbermann is a blowhard too, but he seems more entertaining, plus I hear he is a nice guy in person.

FOX News Channel is an embarrassment to me as a journalist. The anchors seem to have nothing inside there heads, with very few exceptions. The female anchors, Lord help us. The shorter their skirts, the lower their intelligence. Give me an anchor with brains and some meat on their bones anyday.

Since I am on the soapbox, FOX Business Network is even more painful to watch, especially happy hour.

So sorry, I cannot support Bill O'Reilly. One thing I can say about Olbermann, he knows when the camera is off.

Ken,

Just got to say that I marvel at your ability to style Bill O'Reilly a blow hard when compared to Olbermann. Or to claim that O'Reilly in uniquely opportunistic in light of Olbermann's own checkered history.

Olbermann has been desperately trying to get O'Reilly to notice him for years for obvious reasons, his homoeroticism aside:

FOXNEWS O'REILLY 3,855,000
FOXNEWS HANNITY/COLMES 2,619,000
FOXNEWS SHEP SMITH 2,087,000
FOXNEWS GRETA 2,020,000
CNNHN NANCY GRACE 2,007,000
FOXNEWS HUME 1,917,000
MSNBC OLBERMANN 1,454,000
MSNBC MADDOW 1,321,000
CNN COOPER 1,207,000
CNN KING 1,102,000
MSNBC HARDBALL 1,009,000

In the broadcast world O'Reilly matters, Olbermann not so much.

O'Reilly does have the ratings, but that is based on the "Howard Stern" theory. They are watching him because they wanna hear what he says next, whether they like him or hate him.

MSNBC always had a small audience, it literally just started growing over the past couple of years. Like I said, Olbermann is a blow hard too but at least Olbermann is honestly opportunistic as opposed to O'Reilly.

So if O'Reilly matters, it's mostly due to shock value like Howard Stern.

Ken,

Don't take my opprobrium for Olbermann as praise for O'Reilly. Whatever his merits or demerits I'm just not an O'Reilly fan. Althgough I do appreciate his help in shaming Joe Vallario in the effort to get Jessica's Law on the books in Maryland
