Gilchrest can't win--his negatives are too high, Harris cannot win either, Kratovil would win, Pipkin is the best chance for holding the seat. The Gilchrest camp knows this, but do the Harris people?
I think that's silly.
Of course Gilchrest can win. He's the favorite. The seat isn't in any danger from Frank Kratovil. Whoever gets the nod in February gets the seat.
I'm telling you they did the polling, Gilchrest's negatives are too high. They know this, why do you think Pipkin is jumping in?
whether on not "they" die the polling and whether or not Gilchrest's negatives are skyhigh, none of this means Pipkin is a better candidate than Harris or that the Kratovil candidacy is much beyond a joke.
Pipkin jumping in, when he's currently carrying $2.2 million in debt from his last two campaigns only makes sense if Gilchrest is retiring. Otherwise, Pipkin running guarantees Gilchrest wins.
Pipkin is a LOOSER. He only took around 40% of the vote on the eastern shore when he ran against Milkuski. If pipkin is the republican canidate District one goes to the Democratics in 2008.
This rumor is the nail in the coffin for Wayne. He has allready been outraised in compainge donations 3 to 1. This rumor will dry up any more donations. who would waist their donation on a quitter.
Who needs money? Wayne will just keep sending out fliers at taxpayer expense.
Pipkin is running. Gilchrest is not retiring. Gilchrest wins the primary. End of story.
