Rep. Wayne Gilchrest’s (R-Md.) tough re-election battle will take on a new twist tomorrow, when wealthy state Sen. E.J. Pipkin announces that he is joining the increasingly crowded Republican primary race.

I really really like E.J. Pipkin. I hope he gets in.
Pipkin is a looser. He only took 40% of the vote in the senate race against mikuski on the eastern shore. Bob Ehrlich took 60%. I don't see him winning even if he put up $1 million of his own money!
Most Republicans have already endorsed Andy Haris. Most Republican donors have already contributed to Andy Haris or Wayne. Pipkin has an uphill battle all the way to Feb 12. Hope he has deep pockets.
Endorsements don't mean crap. E.J. has deep pockets. Ignore his numbers versus Mikulski. Like it or not, she has some popularity even in the far reaches of this state that typically vote right. Personally, I can't explain why but she does. Thus, her getting a good percentage of votes has more to do with her than the potency of the GOP challenger.
Of course you realize that the more who throw their hat in the ring, the more the anti-Wayne vote is diluted? That is good for the Congressman. Please don't anybody try to say that E.J.'s running is Calageri's fault! That dog don't hunt, even on the Eastern Shore! Is Kratavil laughing at all this?
