Republicans Unite on Slots

[UPDATE: the announcement is scheduled for 1 pm.]

According to sources in Annapolis Senate Minority Leaders David Brinkley will announce, possibly today, that the Republican caucus will vote against legalizing slots in any special session of the legislature.

This effectively means that slots will not pass in a special session and that the session will be devoted entirely to increasing your taxes.

Something reaks of absolute partisan set-up in this that the Republicans are falling for.

Republicans can still vote for slots in the scheduled session. What this does is strip out the only non-tax items that can be considered in the special session as cuts to the budget can't be considered because the budget won't be submitted by then.

Odds are that Montgomery County Dems will vote against slots, too.

I don't see a downside here.
